Upper and Water, Woodblock
This is a print that I pulled from a woodblock carving that my dad made
in 1950. He was an art instructor at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington,
KY. He did this as part of an instruction class in woodblock carving.
This is the first print pulled off of this block in over 65 years.
The image is of downtown Lexington, KY in 1950. He made very few
prints of this, but he did manage to get one of the prints in the
Lexington Herald-Leader during that same year. This block has traveled
with me since he passed in 1976. The tall building was the 1st National
Bank & Trust, now it just re-opened as 21c, a upscale hotel.
Thanks for viewing
Dave
